Exclusive Nintendo Costumes (such as the ones from Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Star Fox and F-Zero) for the Nintendo Switch version can now be unlocked by either using the correct amiibo figures to unlock exclusive costumes or winning Ghost Battles. From Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Prologue, costumes from Tekken: Blood Vengeance for Kazuya Mishima, Devil Jin, Ling Xiaoyu and Alisa Bosconovitch are now included at the start in this game. With two mini-games, Mushroom Battle and Tekken Ball returning from Tekken Tag Tournament 2 available, two additional mini-games, Tekken Force (when the player completes all three Tekken Ball stages) and Tekken Bowl (when the player completes all four stages of Tekken Force) are now available to unlock.
At the tenth and final stage of Arcade mode, with Jun Kazama and Unknown being the final boss, Kazuya Mishima, Jin Kazama and Kazumi Mishima (with their devil forms) appear as final bosses as well, however only one final boss can appear at the final stage. But when playing as both Heihachi and Jinpachi then the sub-bosses will eventually be Kazuya and Jin. At the eighth stage, when playing as either Heihachi Mishima or Jinpachi Mishima, either Kazuya Mishima or Jin Kazama will appear to replace one of them. In Arcade mode, there are now a total of ten stages to complete. Rage Arts from Tekken 7 are now included during gameplay. When winning as a solo character, the announcer will say the character's name. In multiplayer fights when either player wins, the announcer will say "Player One wins" for Player One or "Player Two wins" for Player Two instead of just "You win". While in the character select screen, many other characters' full names are heard (e.g. Their other costumes can be unlocked by completing Arcade Mode and winning ghost battles. Most characters keep their own costumes from Tekken 7. If time runs out, the player who has the most cumulative life remaining amongst their fighters wins the round. If the life bar of either one of the player's fighters runs out, that player loses the round. At certain points, an inactive character's life bar may flash, giving them a temporary boost in strength if they are tagged in. Players are able to switch their fighters out at any time, allowing the inactivating character to gradually recover some life they might have lost.
